10/29/16 - 6:00pm
This will be a day that we will remember as one that changed our lives forever. Sandy called us about 6:00pm telling us that Scott was being rushed to the Auburn Regional Hospital because he had suddenly became unresponsive. Chris and I dropped off Emily at Mandy's and immediately headed to the hospital. There, we were told Scott was extremely sick and in dire condition. Literally fighting for his life. The hospital chaplain came as well as Pastor Zach from MRCC. It was like watching a slow motion nightmare unfolding but we were awake. I took Luke home with me about 11:00pm and Chris stayed with Al, Sandy and Karena. He eventually came home about 3:00am. At that time Scott's heart was stable but his lungs were critical and he was being transferred out of the ER into the ICU. All along the primary concern was how long he went without oxygen and therefore his brain functions.
This is the post Karena shared on Facebook:
As many know, my husband Scott became unresponsive on our way to dinner
Saturday night. We are at Auburn Regional Hospital where he is in ICU,
he has a huge battle ahead. He is
fighting bacterial pneumonia as well as acute respiratory syndrome.
The doctors are worried about brain function as well. As I sit here I
cry out to God asking why, but also knowing all things happen for a
purpose and God's promise that he will never leave or forsake me. God has
already proven himself in so many ways...the first responders that
arrived in Enumclaw were amazing, seeing a friendly face among them was a
God sent, the way they cared for not only Scott but my seven year old
son who witnessed way too much I will always be grateful. The family and
friends who have flooded the hospital with hugs, prayers, gifts, kind
words and laughter is all from God. The parents of so many of my
students who have provided knowledge from there medical comfort and kind
cards, all are God's way of reminding me even in the darkest times he
is faithful.
