Crazy Hair Day

Today was crazy wacky hair day at Emily's school.  Here is her masterpiece.  A HUGE thanks to Krista.  She did the french braids!  Then I looped in the 'bows'.  Complete with pink and silver glitter hairspray!

 

 

Jinx

The previous post jinxed me.  The past week wasn't normal.  Emily was sick which resulted in a trip to the doctor, Chris started to feel bad again which resulted in another round of medications, Emily had tears most mornings not wanting to go to school which resulted in rough mornings for me.  God was I glad to see Friday even though I work Saturdays! 

On a positive note we scheduled nothing for Sunday.  We spent the whole day just hanging out as a family!  Even went and got pedicures!

Random Normal Stuff

Well after last week I was craving normal.  And that slowly happened in our house.  School routine, work routine, etc. Chris returned to work on Thursday and promised to take it slow.  Emily had a valentine celebration at school.  Grandma Sandy hung out and made cookies with Emily on Friday.  Emily had her nine year old wellness check up and all was great.  I worked my first Saturday of this tax season.  And I hosted book club on Sunday with brunch.  Ahhhh I like 'normal'.  Here's to an uneventful week.

Happy Birthday Uncle Ryan

Yesterday was Ryan's birthday.  We celebrated at the Pederson's house with dinner and cake.  My sister made lasagna from scratch and it was excellent!  Hope you had a great birthday Ryan.  Enjoy!

Colitis With a Side of Kidney Stones

Those of you that know my husband know that he gives 110% effort in whatever he is doing.  That includes being sick.  When he is sick he certainly does it up.  I can joke now knowing that he is fine, safe and sound at home.  Our 'adventure' began last Thursday night.  Chris asked me to call 911 since his heart was doing some funky beating.  After a few hours in the ER it was determined that Chris had colitis and a pretty severe case of it.  Colitis is an inflammation / infection in the colon.  Which due to Chris's advance case is pretty serious.  Fast forward four days and he was finally able to come home!  I won't bore everyone with all the details but needless to say it's been quite a roller coaster ride for us.  So glad to have Chris home.  On a side note, the CT scan showed that Chris has two kidney stones!  Lovely huh?

Happy Birthday My Bugga!

Today my baby turned 9 years old.  It's a little crazy to comprehend that she is 9!  It seems like yesterday we were driving her home from the hospital thinking to myself holly cow we are now responsible for another person and why can't the nurse come with us?  Emily told me today that next year 'it's double digits Mom'!  I can wait.  So as noted in the previous posts we celebrated her birthday last weekend.  Today it seemed a bit anti-climatic since it was a school day and work day.  But it was a great day.  She got to hang out with the Tjossem family this morning before the bus.  They yelled 'Happy Birthday' when I dropped her off.  This afternoon I took cookies to her classroom to celebrate at school.  She wanted to come back to my work so we headed back to work so she could meet our office dog, Micki.  Pretty mellow this evening....she didn't want take-out or to go out to a restaurant, just to have dinner at home.  Worked out great since Chris is feeling under the weather.  Thank you to all the well wishers and calls!

We took the plunge and got Emily a quad for her birthday!  Needless to say it was a hit!

It was a total surprise....

 

A few instructions and off she went.  She handles it quite well.  And she is a little bit of a speed devil like her Dad.  Multiple time Chris has to tell her to slow down!

  

 

Celebration Part 2

After Emily's swim party we had a second celebration with our family. 

This awesome cake was a special request by Emily to Grandma Sandy.  She makes the best cakes!

Emily got some great gifts.  Thank you everyone for your generosity!

This picture has a funny story.  It's the second time we lit the candles.  You see Luke was so excited to sing Happy Birthday and for cake that he blew out the candles the first time BEFORE Emily had a chance!  I was proud of Emily...she was a good sport about it!

Let the Celebration Begin!

Yesterday kicked off the festivities for Emily's 9th birthday.  Yes, nine is super fine!  Can't believe my baby is nine.  Why does that seem so much older than eight?  Emily wanted to celebrate with her friends at the pool.  We headed to the Federal Way Community Center on Saturday afternoon. 

The birthday girl with her yummy and very cute cupcakes that Auntie B made.  It's tradition that Brandi makes her cupcakes and I love that!  It's hard to see in this picture but the cupcake is sitting in a glass with M&M's on the bottom.  Very creative!
