Well what better way to celebrate our 14th Annual girls holiday event with these classy ladies than going to lunch and taking in an old time classic romantic film featuring Aubry Hepburn.  Yes, lunch at Mama Stortini's and 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'.  And to make it even better we celebrated Helen's birthday!

An Amazing Tribute

11/18/16

November 18, 2016 the day we had an wonderful celebration of life for Scott.

My post from facebook:

Last night was an amazing tribute to my brother-in-law Scott Moser. We laughed, cried and celebrated 42 years of Scott’s life. Karena was and is a pillar of strength and amazing grace. I’m so proud of my husband for delivering such a touching eulogy that I know made Scott smile down upon us. And I’m so proud of my daughter for delivering a heartfelt speech sharing a few of her favorite memories of her Uncle Scott. Thank you to our family, friends and church family for coming to support the Moser family and pay their respects to Scott. We weren’t able to talk with everyone there but please know how much we appreciated your attendance.

Introducing the newest member of our family.....Ms. CoCo.  Yes, she is a dwarf hamster.  And yes, she is really cute!  Emily had been wanting a hamster for a long, long time.  She researched them, calculated the cost and used her own money to pay for CoCo and all the accessories.

Disney on Ice

11/5/16

Sandy had gotten tickets for her, Karena, Luke, Emily and myself to watch Disney on Ice.  It was a great distraction and for two hours we were able to laugh and enjoy the music.  The kids had a great time.

Days That Followed

11/4/16

In the days that followed, things became a blur.  Meetings with the funeral home, the church, Paccar, planning the memorial service and all the crazy administration stuff that follows a death.  We were just trying to adjust to a 'new normal' as if anything could be normal right now.

November 3

November 3 - Day 5 in ICU

What we didn't know at the time is that this day would be the last day in the ICU. Chris and I had agreed to let Emily make her own decision about whether she wanted to visit Uncle Scott one last time.  Up to this point she had not been to the ICU.  She, without question, wanted to see him.  Looking back I underestimated Em's ability to handle this situation.  She was amazing.  She walked into his room, put on a Darth Vader type mask (more to protect us), stood by his bed, talked to Scott, brought him a dream catcher she made, asked lots of questions and was present in those moments.  She went back into his room multiple time that morning.

When we arrived that morning the neurologist was conducting the brain scan.  We were to get the results back that afternoon. We continued to pray for a miracle, some small hope of positive news.  But that didn't happen.  Both the Doctor and neurologist had to give us the incredibly horrible news that Scott had no brain activity, zero brain function and his condition was worsening.  His blood pressure was spiking and his heart could stop at any moment.

This was the day we said goodbye to Scott.

Here is the post that Sandy wrote on the Support for Scott Moser Facebook page:

Our wonderful, sweet, beautiful son has left us. Al and I were truly blessed to have him as our son. We were so proud of the man, brother, husband, father and friend to so many people. We are in a state of shock and I don't know what more to say now. We are thankful that he was not in pain from the moment this happened and he passed comfortably surrounded by his family who loved him so much. Thank you to all of our many friends and family for their continued support and prayers. Bless you all.

November 2

November 2 - Day 4 in ICU

This was the day the CAT scan results came back.  The Doctor met with us as a family and the results were heartbreaking to hear.  Scott had severe swelling of the brain and in addition his blood pressure was spiking.  He continued to show no signs of reflexes.  The Doctor told us that if there was family that needed to say goodbye, they should come immediately.  We were speechless.  We continued to pray for a miracle.  I remember thinking I couldn't possible cry anymore but yet the tears continued to flow.  Each time we had to repeat the results, it was absolutely gut wrenching.

This was the post from the Support Scott Moser Facebook page that day:

Update 11/2: This morning the family received dire news from the doctor. The scan results are not good. A neurologist will be in this afternoon to do an assessment and hopefully provide more information. The family asks for your prayers and continued support. We will update as soon as we know more from the neurologist.

November 1

November 1 - Day 3 in ICU

Each day that we woke up without a middle of the night call was a good one.  It became apparent that we would be spending a lot of time in the ICU waiting room.  Luckily my work is amazing, supportive and told me not to even think about going to work that week.  We quickly got into a routine.  Chris would wake up and head to work by 4:00am.  He would work a few hours and then head to the hospital.  I would drop off the kids at school, head to the hospital arriving about 9:00am.  Two of those mornings I was the first to arrive and would sit with Scott talking to him, reading from the bible or just holding his hand in hopes that he would hear and wake up.  His medical team told us to constantly talk to him, touch his hand, sing, read, etc.  This had shown to have a positive effect in situations like this.  The amount of visitors that Scott received was amazing and brought our family to tears many times.

This was the post from the Support Scott Moser Facebook page that day:

This morning presented us with mixed news in regard to Scott’s condition.  His lungs and respiratory issues have improved.  The concern regarding his brain functions is very real.  On day 3 we should be seeing some reflexes kick in and as of this afternoon that was not happening.  We all know Scott has his own way of doing things, so we are remaining positive and optimistic that he will start showing improvement.  Once Scott is a bit more stabilized the doctors are going to have a CAT scan done.  This may give us some answers.  Please continue to pray.  The outpouring of support has been enormous and such a blessing to our family.

Halloween!

10/31/16

In the attempt to keep things 'normal' for the kids we did host Halloween night.  If one positive thing came out of that day it was that all of Karena's immediate family, Chris' immediate family and my immediate family came together and celebrated Halloween.  Coordinating that under any other situation would have been impossible...I personally think Scott was pulling some strings from his hospital bed.

All the cousins

Kenworth sent home Halloween goodie bags for Luke and Emily

Huge thanks to Grammy Jill for helping alter Emily's dress for her costume!

Most of these pumpkins were grown by Papa Dirt!
